Sea Water Reverse Osmosis System (Antigua)
Desalination Plant for Potable Water Production.

PROJECT :

Antigua is one of the two major islands in the Caribbean that make up the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. Waterworks Technologies was awarded the contract for the design, installation and commissioning of one of the largest sea water desalination plant in Antigua for Antigua Public Utilities Authority. The plant was built to produce 2 million gallons per day of potable water from sea water which would cater to the needs of the local community.

PROCESS :

The process comprised of sea water reverse osmosis systems to produce portable water. The scheme included 4 x 500,000 US Gallon per day modular skid mounted reverse osmosis systems and the associated prefiltration systems. Modernized hydraulic pressure boosters was incorporated in the system to minimize the power consumption and operation costs.

System Key Features:

Characteristic Result
Design Feed TDS 35,000 mg/L
Permeate Flowrate 2 million USG/day
Max Permeate TDS 350 mg/L
